Latency is the most important quality metric for a KVM solution. If there is a perceptible delay between what you type and what appears on the remote machine, the experience becomes frustrating and unusable. HelloControlDesk is built from the ground up to minimise input latency by operating entirely over your local area network, where round-trip times are typically under 1 millisecond.

The input forwarding pipeline is kept as lean as possible: mouse events and keystrokes are captured, serialised, encrypted, and transmitted in a tight loop with no unnecessary buffering. On a wired connection the delay stays very low; over Wi-Fi it depends on the quality of your network.

HelloControlDesk never routes traffic through the cloud. Your keyboard and mouse events travel directly from your server to your client machine over the local network, meaning latency depends only on your LAN, not on server round trips or internet conditions. On a good local network, this architecture keeps HelloControlDesk responsive in everyday use.

How it works

Limits and requirements

HelloControlDesk works only between machines on the same local network, over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It does not work over the internet.
Responsiveness depends on your network: a congested or weak Wi-Fi link shows up as delay, a wired connection is usually steadier.
No latency figure is guaranteed; what you get reflects your own local network.
