What is a software KVM?
A traditional KVM is a physical box: you plug in your keyboard, mouse and screens, and a button switches between machines. A software KVM does the same thing without hardware — the machines talk to each other over your local network, and your pointer crosses from one screen to the next as if they were one desk.
Do I need to be on the same network?
Yes. The machines communicate over your local network, which is what keeps latency low and keeps your input off the internet. A shared Wi-Fi or Ethernet network is enough.
Does it work between macOS and Windows?
Yes, in both directions. A Mac can drive a PC and a PC can drive a Mac. Clipboard content follows the pointer between the two.
How many machines can I control?
Up to five, arranged in any of the four directions around your main machine — left, right, above or below — so the layout matches your physical desk.
Is the connection secure?
Communication is encrypted with TLS, and each machine authenticates with a token. Neither your keystrokes nor your clipboard leave your local network.
What happens if a machine goes to sleep?
The connection re-establishes on its own when the machine wakes. You don't have to reconfigure anything or restart the application.
